Welcome to Loose Infant School

We are very proud of our school, which is a happy, safe and stimulating place to learn, work and play.

The Staff and Governors of the school aim to provide the children with an education that is broadly based and tailored to meet the children’s individual needs. We provide a caring, happy and positive atmosphere in which a child may fulfill his/her potential and grow in self-confidence and respect for people and the environment.

We are committed to the ideal of a partnership in education between home and school and, to this end, prospective parents are invited to visit the school and meet the staff and children.

Arrangements for Severe Weather PDF Print E-mail

School will stay open if at all possible when there is severe weather such as deep/drifting snow, very high winds, widespread flooding.  Parents have the responsibility of getting children to and from school safely and need to decide if the journey is safe when severe weather affects transport and/or walking conditions. Parents should inform schools if their child is absent due to severe conditions making the journey unsafe. Please consider carefully and only keep children at home if conditions are unsafe.

On occasions, schools may need to open late/close early and a message will go out on the local radio stations, Radio Kent (96.7 FM) and Invicta FM (102.8 FM). If on the rare occasion school closes at a time within the school day, there will again be a radio announcement. Please remember to keep your contact details up-to-date in case we need to telephone you. Children will obviously be held in school until someone can come and collect them.

In severe conditions school meal services may be affected due to delays with food deliveries so please ensure all children come in with a packed lunch. We would also ask that you bring children in the front entrance by the office or through the conservatory door by the outside toilets.

Please also ensure your child is appropriately clothed for the cold/wet/windy weather and that shoes/boots have good grip for icy conditions. If your child wears Wellington boots to school please also bring a pair of shoes for them to change into.

Finally to avoid blocking the school telephones, DO NOT telephone the school. Please assume that the school will be open unless there has been a radio announcement to the contrary. If the school closes during the day then again there will be an announcement on local radio. You do not need to telephone us. We will also keep the school website up to date during the day so please check there first.
Thank you for your assistance in these matters.
